Lampton Services Countryside Win Award for Special Educational Needs Provision
The Lampton Services Countryside team, based in Bedfont Lakes Country Park, have won a Spark! Award for the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Alternative Provision (AP) of the Year. In partnership with Woodbridge Park Educational Services, the Bedfont Lakes team has provided high-quality work experience programmes for disadvantaged young people, equipping them with skills and knowledge that set them up for future careers. Led by Kayleigh Easterbrook and Nicola Verby, the team was also nominated for Work Experience Provider of the Year, the only team nominated for two awards.
Bedfont Lakes Country Park, with its small team, has given several young people gain experience in animal care, working with educational school groups and assisting countryside rangers. A Spark! representative said, “Nicola, Kayleigh and the team are so welcoming to some of our most vulnerable young people. We consistently see fantastic outcomes for young people.”
This award shows the value of the work Lampton Services Countryside does for Hounslow Council, giving disadvantaged young people opportunities to succeed and reaffirms Lampton’s success in bringing value to the residents of Hounslow and the wider community, with parents giving excellent feedback on the experience and safe space that the team provide. This is possible through the council’s support of Lampton and its aims.
Cllr Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills and Employment, said“We congratulate Lampton on their Spark award. It’s a fitting reward for the fantastic work they’re doing with young people living with special educational needs and disability (SEND) in Hounslow. The team at Bedfont Lakes Country Park have developed an excellent reputation for SEND provision and recognises it’s a sound investment that goes beyond social responsibility.”
Kayleigh Easterbrook, Countryside Manager, said, “We have been working with Spark! for over six years, and our partnership with Woodbridge Park Educational Services has gone from strength to strength, culminating in winning this amazing award. As a team, we have bundles of passion, empathy, skill and a desire to make the world a better place, and it is very pleasing to be recognised for this.”
